15000 Miles on……..

Long Time No Speak!

Well it’s definitely been a while, what with Lock-down and Covid restrictions, work has been busy!

That hasn’t stopped me from biting away at a list of  things to do on the S3.

I’m sure the world and his children now know that she’s running a 3.2 VR6 engine with a large turbo bolted to the back of it!

I can happily say that it’s the best thing I’ve ever done to this car, she’s an absolute weapon now, regularly picking on some respectable contenders and showing them a clean pair of heals.  On the subject of heals, I’ve gone back to an old favorite and managed to get hold of some rare Porsche Boxster fitment Lobster Claw alloy wheels, I even left in them in the factory silver rather than the Nimbus Grey I’d normally run to change things up a tad and I’m glad I made this decision as they really set the car off now……so much so, its had a few magazine features!!!!!……..look out for this beast in PVW magazine and FastCar magazine.

With the extra cylinders and power, more stopping power was needed so bigger front discs were sourced and now measure 360 x 32mm, these coupled with some Brembo HP2000 pads ensure I can tame this beast. I have 310mm rear discs to fit to the rear at a later date, this will complement the fronts nicely and look good doing so.

Hardlines!!!!…….I love them, they look really nice, are very durable and not seen in the average engine bay. These are made using alloy tubing and AN fittings available in various sizes and lengths. They require a special flaring tool as they are not the same flare as used in your braking system….as i found out….when everything started leaking! lol  They take a lot of time, trial and error and lots of ruined pipes that didn’t go according to plan, but the results are worth the effort.

The under bonnet felt was looking slightly crispy from years of the original K04 turbo glowing like a furnace, so with some left over G2 heat shield material I fashioned up a nice piece that followed the shape of the OEM felt and is retained with the stock clips.

Please get yourself a ColorMFA, its the best gadget to have in these cars, it can do so much stuff that I could dedicate a whole chapter singing its praises…..probably easier to tell you what it can’t do!!!…..It basically brings the 00’s clusters into 2022 and then some.

Facebook market place can be really good if you get in early, these door panels with custom door builds for 6″ mids are one such gem I acquired when looking for something totally different. They look awesome and once fitted with new Hertz component speakers, sound brilliant too, they balance out perfect with the rears now as I’ve had 6″ mids in the rear for quite a while now. There’s a box filling up with more goodies to add in near future, stay tuned!
