Matty’s Mk2

INTRODUCED

Ok ladies and gents, I introduce the latest project to enter the VWE stable. The owner of this car, Matty has been planning this build for a while and collecting parts while still driving his more door mk2 ABF 16v. A lot of the parts needed were attached to said car so at the end of February it was pulled off the road and put to rest!!! So for today here are some “before” pictures!!!

So, my next job is to remove the KR 16v engine and all associated gubbins, stay tuned…..

Ok guys, the story so far. The engine has now been removed and the dashboard conversion is well under way. I tell you this for free……engine conversions are a shed load easier and quicker than doing a dashboard conversion. VAG made sure their engines used the same mounting pickup points, shame about their dashes, designed specific for each model and not transferable!!!!! But this is VW Enterprises, we like a challenge. So with lots of trimming and modding, the job was started in earnest.

And the money shots of completed dash conversion.

Looks like it was made this way from the factory!

Now that the dash is sorted i can get on with engine conversion in earnest!

Well this is the final install on this build. The last and most important piece of the puzzle, getting the engine plumbed and wired commences in earnest!

OK, so after some serious wiring and plumbing, I turned the key and she fired into life. Methinks that the best part of any build is the turning of that key for the 1st time!!! So after a cerebration drink it was time to Finish what i had started!!!

Fresh!

Fresh!

So all that was left was brakes, suspension and wheels. All bolt on goodies so was a straight forward affair. Car sailed through MOT and handed over to a very eager owner! Watch out for this boosted terror on a street near you soon!
