Chilla Movements!

And so it begins!!!

I love 20v Turbo engines, but in a heavy AWD car like my Audi S3, would require a fully built Forged engine with uprated valves etc, and a large turbo which would ultimately be a tad laggy! Now as some folks may know, I have a Mk1 Golf with just such an engine, forged, uprated valves, a moderate size turbo and all the trimmings to make a light weight car go extremely fast. I don’t want 2 heavily modified 20v’s!…….. Something needed to be done, something BIG!!!

Looky here

We all know that there is no substitute for cubic capacity. With this in mind I went on the search for the biggest engine i could get in my engine bay without cutting or any fancy mounts. To this end, I settled on the 3.2 V6 found in the infamous VW Golf Mk4 R32! To this some force induction would be added for good measure and to realise my end goal of 500 bhp.

Once purchased, engine was immediately sent away to CTM Performance Engineering for a full rebuild with all associated parts upgraded for intended use.

So, with the rebuilt long engine, it was time to really start putting my mark on this engine.

To keep under bonnet temperatures down, the really hot stuff was sent to Zircotec for their superb Ceramic Coating….warning, ceramic porn approaching!!

Now the fun begins, the 8L Audi A3/S3 never left the factory with a V6 engine, so it was another step into the unknown for me with this installation/conversion. After much research and raiding of the extensive VAG parts catalogue, fitting of this beastly engine could commence.

She runs!!! So whats next? Motion of course! Her maiden voyage was a short but very momentous occasion! Run the 2nd video, popcorn anyone?

Its been a very long road, late nights, angry bank managers, and my own doubts and unsure moments. But i knew the ride on this bumpy route would be worth it in the end.

As you can hear, there is no exhaust system or any boost pipes fitted as nothing is available off the shelf. The solution to this problem comes in the name of SAS Autoworks. Only top-notch fabrication leaves these premises. So the car has been shipped off for the full monty, watch this space for some TIG porn!

Off to get some piping laid!
